After a long grieving period I’ve accepted the “new me” and I’m ready to tackle life as best I can by embracing my disabilities and accepting I now need support because I can’t be the “old me” as my body doesn’t work that way anymore.
looking forward to making new connections and sharing advice 🫶🏻

Hi @PS_speedy, welcome to the community. Your post has brought up memories for me. It took me a long time to accept my Crohn's Disease and to accept help and support. It took me being hospitalised to make me realise. I'm glad that it didn't come to that for you, from what you've said at least!
It's a difficult thing to do, so congratulations for that. It's a big step. We can help you find support or advice. If it's just people to talk to going through a similar situation then you're in the right place we can chat here or there's many discussions in the Coffee Lounge that you can join in.
There are also places here to get advice with benefits and other support such as adaptions, travel and more depending on how your condition(s) affects you.1 -
Hi Jimm
thank you for that, yes it’s been a 4-5 year process for me because I’m quit stubborn and insist on doing everything myself but that’s only made my conditions worse and so I was hospitalised all over Xmas & new year for 3 weeks and that there was the wake up call for me and the hospital could see where I needed help too, so yes it was a long process but I’m out the other side now and feel these forums talking to people in similar positions may help me on this journey I’m on, so thank you and I’ll certainly check out this coffee lounge area when I have a bit more time.
thank you I appreciate all support 🙏🏼1 -
It sounds like a very similar journey to what I took @PS_speedy, reaching a point of wake up and realising that 1. you need help and 2. there are people who are willing to help.
Let me know if there's any specific subjects you'd be interested in, we have a whole section of the community about different kinds of benefits and another section that covers a lot of different conditions.
There's no need to rush checking everything out! This isn't like facebook or twitter, things move at a more even pace usually and you can always easily read back to see what people have said0
