Hello everyone,

I am currently undertaking a research project on inclusive wellbeing for the disabled community with the aim of setting up a community interest company and I would love to hear your thoughts and experiences. Your valuable insights will contribute to meaningful research and help drive positive change. This has come about from my own personal experience and I’m passionate about helping to make a difference.

Would really appreciate your thoughts and feedback.

You haven't told us anything about yourself or what a community interest company is..

Hello! That's a really good point. Sorry about that. My name is Emily and I'm in the process of setting up a community interest company. It's very similar to a charity but the main purpose is to benefit the community we serve rather than the majority going to shareholders.

I am undertaking a research project to understand challenges and barriers for the disabled community when accessing wellbeing services as the community interest company is all about offering accessible, inclusive wellbeing services for the disabled community. This will be primarily be via an online platform where tailored classes and services can be accessed.

It has all come about from my own experience. The wellbeing world can at times feel like a very lonely place for disabled people and it’s not entirely inclusive of the various needs of the community. But we don't deserve to be counted out.

I can't access online services wellbeing or otherwise. I can't do Zoom or watch tutorials but perhaps there's something else waiting to be discovered?

What services do you plan to offer? How do you hope to make the wellbeing world more inclusive for disabled people?

I do wish people wanting to pick our brains for research would tell us a bit more about their own experience of disability if that is the case..

And answer simple questions like which "inclusive wellbeing services" might be offered for disabled people and explain how this research will "help drive positive change".

I appreciate what you're saying and thank you for your feedback.

I have outlined some more information on the form itself but I'm still in the very early stages. I just thought this was the right time to try and get different perspectives as disability is such a huge spectrum and we all have different experiences and our own stories. I used to work for the NHS and there were so many limitations to the referrals that were being offered in terms of healthy eating guidance, movement, support for pain management etc.

Our aim is to set up an online wellbeing community platform for disabled people and provide training and toolkits for wellbeing organisations.

I'm really happy for you to message me directly so please do feel free to reach out!

Thank you Emily! Being ignored is something a lot of us have to deal with and that is never easy.

I am suspicious of everyone and avoid clicking on links until I know enough. There are spammers everywhere as I'm sure you know.

Being non-digital means I can't access online services and as you say, disability is a huge spectrum from mental health to physical health. Which one are you focusing on because they are vastly different?

Also, do you now work in the private or public sector?
