So I used to live with some step parents unfortunately due to my mental and other medical issues used to create a lot arguments and not good situations so my birth parents have rented a flat from private landlord.

i moved several months ago and sent journal message and they said they wanted see tenancy agreement etc(what I have)

all the bills are in my name and my parent pays the money for me to pay off the bills.

as time changing they’ve asking me to claim the housing benefit what I understand but I feel wrong and could get in trouble, one because the money could go back to my family looking as if I’m giving my benefits to others, second it’s been some months since I moved and I did enquire.

i just feel useless as I applied for the housing but wasn’t accepted as I’m not deemed high priory and moving areas hasn’t helped for either.

so can my family give me the
money to pay for a flat and bills and am allowed to claim housing costs benefit to put toward to bills, rent ( ideally I’ll pay some of to landlords bank )

also would it be seen as deprivation of capital

Lewismgza I can understand you feeling worried by this situation. If the tenancy agreement is not in your name it will cause you issues, but if the tenancy agreement is in your name, (not your parents) you can claim housing benefit and you can pay the money back to your parents or to your landlord. I would strongly recommend that you get some support and advocacy though. There are a few really good charity’s that will help you with not only looking at which benefits you’re eligible for but they will also help you claim them.

Are you named on the tenancy agreement as liable for the rent @lewismgza??

Do you have capital (savings) for deprivation to even be considered an issue?
Yes I am on the tenancy and no I have no savings only what I do save each month nothing near the £6000 at least

Well it would it be used to pay bills and some of the rent but the rest of rent would be paid by family

Ok well we do it every six months so the next one coming up soon for April onwards. So once I get that signed I’ll send that in.
Also would I have to reprove it every six months

I don't understand why you are waiting. If you have a liability to pay rent to a landlord now then you shouldn't wait.

If you're privately renting then you will need proof of liability to pay rent such as a tenancy agreement, which you will need to give to UC. How often you pay your rent is a moot point.

    Hiya @lewismgza and welcome. :)

I agree with Poppy and Biblioklept here, the sooner you get the tenancy agreement sent it, the sooner you can get the ball rolling.

Ok well im on it and liable but my parents actually pay for it, directly . The bills also in my name but they transfer the money to my to pay them off

the tenancy is renewed soon so I will use that as proof of tenancy and should be fine right?

It doesn't matter who pays it. You are still named on the tenancy agree so are liable for paying the landlord. If you have your current tenancy agreement then you can use that. Tenancy agreements are not always renewed because after the end of the fixed term they often revert to a periodic tenancy, so monthly rolling and for this you do not sign another tenancy agreement.
