Hi I'm new here and I can't get an answer on the fact that I made my claim on 7/7/23 and with in the 3 months AP I was given a phone call by the assessor and she said "she is a little bit busy can she ring me back in 15 minutes" so I said YES and I waited and had no call so the next day I rang UC and they told me she said I REFUSED the assignment (like any one would) so I told them I had the screen shots of my call log for that day and I was given no answers wether I was believed or not but they booked a new one and I have just been excepted for LCWRA (3/3/24) so I'm wondering will I still be backdated till the end of the 14 week AP after the 7/7/23 or will that apparently refusal affect what time scale I will be backdated to as I have had fit notes every month since the 7/7/23 or will it be some excuse with me refusing to have the assessment appointment as I can't get any feed back on if I was believed that I DID NOT refuse she told me she would ring back and received no call and I Rang back the very next day to ask why I did not receive a call! So can any one answer if I will still be back dated from the 14 weeks after the 7/7/23 please thank you.

The waiting period for the extra money isn't 14 weeks for UC. It's 3 full assessment periods. It's then paid from the 4th month after you provided your first fit note, with first payment being the end of the 4th month.

Was the 7th July 2023 the date you provided your first fit note? What date do you usually receive your money each month?

Hi @Usernameis692, welcome to our community :) I think poppy has answered well about your questions around payments etc.

Regarding the incorrect "refusal" I would raise a complaint about that with the assessor. That is the first place you complain to, not the DWP. Though you can inform the DWP about the complaint it is something internally carried out by the assessor.

I hope this helps, please do let us know if you have any further questions :) I'll move this to our UC category as well

    (Sorry for the tag)

My 1st fit note was 7/7/23 and I have not missed one to date (each month) its just will me missing my 1st assessment call (for I.e) affect the time scale is what I'm asking I.e they will only back date me from my 2nd assignment call (26/2/24) or will missing the 1st assessment call not matter as I have provided fit notes from 7/7/23 I just don't know if there is some claws about missing an assessment? ( I.e I should have had that 1st call and accepted on the 4th month for I.e but it's now been 8 months (Inc the AP) so can they say because its months later I'm not entitled to the backdated amount or not? As its about £1.950 (5×390) obviously not Inc the 3 months AP or will I just get like "oh here's £390 or £780 as you missed your 1st assessment call" that the only thing I don't know about the dwp/assessor side of things (I know the maths and the AP and the payed in arrears) but just the claws around missing an assessment call and backdating if you or anyone knows? Thank you again 💓

There shouldn't be any issues. If there were going to be problems then it would have happened soon after they accused you of refusing the assessment because you could have been found fit for work at that time.

The reason why you haven't seen anything on your statements yet is because the decision wasn't made until 3rd March. Your payment is 18th of each month, so your assessment periods are 12th to 11th of every month so it's not the end of your AP for this month yet.

Based on the information you gave your waiting period will be July to Oct 2023.. LCWRA starts from 12th Oct to 11th November and first payment will be 18th November. Up to now they owe you 4th months LCWRA element. Money owed will be paid separately to your usual monthly money and quite often takes quite a few weeks to pay it.

You need to check your statement this month to make sure the element is included.

Please note, my advice assumes you're not claiming UC with a partner that already receives the LCWRA element on your claim.

As I advised, very often it can take several weeks. Before they can pay what is owed they have to recalculate your past statements. This will then tell them how much you're already received against what you should have received. You will then be paid the difference between the two. You will then receive a letter on your journal telling how much they owe and it will be paid into your bank.

Please note, once the statements are recalculated they will replace your existing ones. You can take copies of the current ones now if you want to.

The only number to ring is the UC helpline and it's pointless doing this because they will only put a message onto your journal, which you can do yourself. The decision was only made 4 days ago so please give it a little more time.
