I think it is fair to say, no one is surprised that I would be the one talking about how it is World Book Day tomorrow! 😂

World Book Day is a day to celebrate authors, illustrators, books and the joy reading can bring. I wanted to make a post today to highlight threads already posted on the community for fellow book lovers to get involved in.
Or why not join in with our new game in the Games Lounge! Come and play The Author Game! 😊

But I also wanted to know if you had any plans for World Book Day?

Any little ones dressing up? Are you dressing up? Treating yourself to a new book? Visiting the library?

If you wanted to celebrate, The National Literacy Trust has a brilliant website called Words for Life. Who have many activities to help you celebrate World Book Day at home ❤️

Let's get reading! 📚

I might dress up as a shark, to pay homage to Peter Benchleys book.  :D

@chiarieds Get the throws, pillows and snacks ready <3

@Albus_Scope Very surprised you didn't go with someone from Warhammer!

@Beaver79 What has been a recent favourite read?

You know I love a bit of dress up @Beaver79 ;)

@Hannah_Scope if I had the budget, I'd totally be dressing up as a space marine, or Ibram Gaunt! Are you going to dress up too?

I may do The Very Hungry Caterpillar, a very good excuse to stay in a sleeping bag all day. :)

@Albus_Scope I won't be dressing up, but of course treated myself to a few books. I was going to say, who needs a budget when you have tin foil, but then remembered the price the last time I needed some!

    Hi z@Hannah_Scope
I’m about to start reading Dark Rooms by Lynda laPlante.

Can anyone recommend an app where you can access your own library for online audiobook's? I’ve heard you can sign up to different library’s and order from a app??  Happy world book 📕 day.

Hey @Zimba, I tend to rely on audiobooks most of the time and just use Audible and buy audiobooks through there.  I think they usually have a new sign ups deal too?  I'm afraid I'm not sure of any other apps.

@zimba Local libraries have access to audiobooks. I would check out your local council library website to see if they offer the same. I know with my council you install an app called Borrow Box, you pop in your library card details and a pin to access the e-audiobooks.

Yesterday I read a little more of "I can jump puddles" by Alan Marshall. It is my first reread in about 40 years. It is set in Australia in the early 1900s, and I'd narrated by a young boy who has polio, and thereafter uses crutches.
As a child with disabilities, I was blown away.
In my re-read I have been noticing the parents more. I also noted that the father acknowledged that the countryside in which the novel tales place was the Country of Aboriginal people.

And you got your bookshelf into the picture too!

@muuranker that sounds like a really interesting book! I've just had a google as I find it harder to find books about disabilities published before the 80's. Another added to my list!
