So I had my pip assessment on 15th Feb and received a text last week saying not yet reached a decision, today I rang dwp for pip waited 40min to be told my letter is in post and my pip claim has been disallowed, not sure why as I provided all medical evidence and was asked to do telephone assessment which I did and explained my mobility problems and how I rely on my husband and kids. I don't what disallowed means as I have never claimed before .

Disallowed means you have been refused. You can challenge that decision by first requesting the Mandatory Reconsideration. (MR) You have 1 month from the date of the decision to do this. I'd advise you to put that request in writing stating where and why you think you should have scored those points. Please do not ring them to request it.
When you filled out the form if you didn't include a couple of real world examples of exactly what happened the last time you attempted each descriptor that applies then I'd advise you to do that now. Adding detailed information such as where you were, what exactly happened, did anyone see it and what the consequences were.
If the MR decision doesn't change (most don't) you can proceed to Tribunal.1 -
Hi @simran and welcome to the community.
Disallowed just means you were turned down for your claim. This can happen a lot unfortunately, as the DWP tend to like things to be written in a certain way. I see Poppy has already given you some top advice already and we have more information here if you want to have a read.1 -
Thank you so much for this information. Have worked in retail for 19yrs but due to health condition off sick and now incapability report says not fit to go back. I'm feeling overwhelmed. Was told by health assessment at work that I should apply for pip so I did.0

Hello @simran
Welcome to the community. I'm sorry to hear that your PIP claim was turned down and I see you've had some great advice. I wanted to check in as you mentioned your health hasn't been great. Have you got support around you?0 -
I have my husband who works full-time and helps look after me and our 4 children. It's been really tough. And when he is at work I rely on help by my 16 yrs old son.0

I'm sorry to hear it has been so tough. I am glad you have support If you ever need additional help, you can always submit a needs assessment. They can help from things like getting the shopping in, to medical equipment or even adaptations if needed.1
