Sorry to post this but its to say pets are more than pets to me.
My cat of 12 years has passed today.  so I wrote this.

  Goodbye, my friend.

Today is just another day

Or so, it seems to some.

But I found that my cat

After a long illness, has left me behind.

I have had the pleasure of being her friend

It’s over 12 years now

And spent that time with all my cats

Playing and being just my friend

She was there when I was ill, on more than just one time

And would look up when I talked to her, even if it was to complain or whine.

She was so happy when she saw me, always talking as they do

And seemed to know when I needed company, and just sat upon my knee.

I’ve posted on here before, about animals, and how they help

BUT, did they come into your life, when support seemed in vane?

They are all a part of your family, the pets that you want to home

And when down the pets home, and see that pet, you know, yes that’s the one.

They don’t have to be that breed, the one that everyone wants

Or have long legs and long hair, or bark or meow, to melt your heart away.

They may have wiry hair or a tongue that pokes out all the time

They may have a bit of ear missing, to show a hard start in life.

But when you look into their eyes, the eyes would say it all

Oh please take me from here, you look like a sensitive type of guy,

I think with a bit of work you can look after me,

so together we will give support and just get on with life,

If you have pets you’ll know, what this loss has done

The only way I can get around this is to say another chapter has begun.

It may be that missing bed, that would say that you're gone,

But in my heart you will always be there, and proud to call you my friend.

I don’t know what the future brings and hope the pain will go.

But the pain will come from the fact that I can’t see you anymore

I have some photos of what we did when playing out the back

And noticed when I was ill, you sitting on my lap

You never asked for much, and were always pleased to see me

And for this, I thank you for coming into my life

A brief encounter, in life’s long plan

My cat Sookie was much more than just a friend to me.                                                          10/03/2024.

OBV.

So sorry about you losing Sookie @onebigvoice - you gave her a lot of love, & she to you. Cats amaze me with how much love they give & also know when you're feeling ill. I never thought I'd get a cat, but Shadow has made my house a home.

Thank you for your comments, and appreciater them.
I have 4 other cats and a dog, all have their little traits.  But I do find talking to them gives me pleasure, and they give me support in return.  Its funny how they will do what I ask but don't listen to anyone else, and the dog they say has the mentality of a 7 year old, which I believe since I could be sat down and say lets go out the back and have a sit in the sun, and she would get up and meet me by the back door, my wife and kids day the same thing, she won't budge?  Only gone for a while, you never know what's on the other side......
