They're a bit 'showy' for some people's liking but I love them.

We haven't had as many ants in our garden since we released ladybirds in the garden.

We discovered that ants apparently "farm" aphids on plants. They protect and keep the aphid eggs/larva alive on the plant to extract nutrients from the plant for the ants to then take.

I remember last year discovering a bit conga line of ants heading straight for one of our catnip plants which I saw was covered in aphids. The ladybirds sorted all that out, and I've also seen far fewer ants this year.

As some of you know I moved into my new home in January this year. My garden was a jungle of long grass and weeds galore in 2 borders. With help from my daughter, a lot of pain, frustration and pure determination I can now sit in my garden and be very proud of what I achieved. I wanted to share some photos with you.
