Hi all

Does the severe disability premium continue after reaching state pension age 66?

It’s included with Pension Credit, which you would need to claim.

Have claimed but never received any decision yet. Might have to call them.

Yes - the chap should qualify for PC.

He received enhanced and severe disability premiums while on ESA but will that automatically continue to be paid now that hes 66 or will we need to apply again?

PIP continues for as long as they remain entitled to it. I do know there's very long delays of up to about 6 months for pension credit. When did they claim Pension credit?

Enhanced disability premium is part of ESA so this will have stopped the day before they reached state pension age.

I already answered the question about SDP.

Applied in November 2023 for state pension and pension credit.  This was as early as we were allowed to apply (4 months before age 66 reached)

Hello, I've suffered mental health issues for 32 years. Anxiety Depression, two attempts at suicide, lucky to survive the last time just over seven years ago. I just can't shake it off. Early last December I had a PIP assessment and it was cancelled. I appealed via the mandatory review and it was reinstated to me around six weeks later. I lost the severe disability premium element of my Income Related Employer and Support Allowance. I have since had a telephone assessment and was once again placed in the Support Group. This was around six weeks ago, I still have not received the severe disability premium. Though I have received notification that it will pay me £55.19p each week. My query is am I still entitled to the Severe Disability Element of the benefit or due to the forthcoming transition to Universal Credit have I lost the benefit. I have wrote to DWP requesting information and the payment and rang Welfare Rights and left a message, but my anxiety levels are increasing around the issue, through not knowing. Thanks in advance.

@Headintheshed I’m in the process of trying to advise you on your thread here

It’s gets very confusing when posting the same comment on various threads. Please try to stick to one thread because it’s very difficult to keep up with otherwise.
