Pip tribunal award and backpayment

Hi,

I was awarded the higher rate of mobility just over 3 weeks ago at a tribunal and only today received the letter explaining future payments and a backdated pay (pending a check to see if I owe DWP any debt)

Roughly how long from this letter will I receive the backpayment? Also is it standard procedure for the letter to say they're checking if I owe them money?

This is the first correspondence I've had from them no calls or texts.

Thanks

Hi @n_jones7, welcome to the community. Great to hear you got the higher rate mobility and a back payment. I'll put your post into our PIP section where our lovely members can find it more easily and share their experiences. Just wanted to pop in to say hello and welcome first :)

There's no timescales how long it will take debt management to check if you owe any money. No, it's not really standard procedure.

    Hi Poppy,

Ok thanks I don't think I owe them any money as nothing is being deducted from my UC/ESA, also I had a different backpayment in 2022 which was unaffected,

Is 3/4 weeks from the tribunal normal time for them to contact me, and how long do people on average receive their backpayment after the tribunal?

    Thanks again

Usually it’s up to 8 weeks. You’ve received the decision letter from PIP but they have sent the money they owe you to debt management so now you need to wait for them to respond. This will delay paying what is owed to you.
