Tomorrow is Tolkien day and I'm super excited about it!
Tolkien Reading Day is an annual event, launched by The Tolkien Society in 2003, that takes place on 25 March. It has the aim of encouraging the reading of the works of J. R. R. Tolkien, and the use of Tolkien's works in education and library groups. The date of 25 March was chosen in honour of the fall of Sauron, the main baddy in Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings.
This annual holiday was started by The Tolkien Society back in 2003, and gives you a great excuse to re-read The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings sagas again, or for the very first time if you've not sampled his works before. Heck, I guess you could even watch the movies, or the recent tv show too?
I fell in love with the world created by Tolkien when I was a teen and have gone back several times to re-read The lord of the rings books. I even grew my hair long so I could be more like Legolas.
Though after watching all of the movies back to back many years ago, I've not been able to watch them since.
Are you a fan of Tolkien's works? Who's your favorite LOTR character? Are there any stand out scenes you love?

I first had The Hobbit and the Lord of the rings read to me when I was 7. I remember being terrified of the ring wraiths. I immediately reread them and have reread them again many times including reading the whole lot out loud to my children 3 times over.
But I hated the films as they changed too much. I embarrassed the children horribly by exclaiming out loud in horror that they had added things. I mean taking things out because they are so long is understandable in a film but adding things and leaving less time for things that should have been there was a terrible thing to do.
I always really liked Faramir, and Merry and Pippin of course, and the Ents and Tom Bombadil. I think the Entmoot was my favourite bit.

Oh the ring wraiths were terrifying! Even more so in the animation from the 1978 animation. I very nearly got a ring wraith tattoo as a reminder to always face my fears.
The films definitely gave Tolkien the Hollywood treatment for better or worse, but I still can enjoy them without cringing too much haha. You'd think they would've got more interesting parts in the films as they had over 12 hours.
We used to call our early Sunday morning coffee meets "Entmoots" as none of us were talking very fast.0
