All local Authorities have their own rules for ages with bungalows. In my area because I live with my daughter and I'm single I have to be 60 for a 2 bedroom bungalow. If I was single and lived alone I would need to be 55 for a 1 bedroom bungalow.

I don't think it has anything to do with your rights due to the shortage of bungalows across the country.

I have already been assessed and I qualify for a 1 bed bungalow.the person I care for can move into my 2 bed house with me but won't allow me to bid on 2 bed bungalow.

That’s because you don’t qualify for a 2 bedroom bungalow.

Yes but the rules for a bungalow are different in many areas. I qualify for a 1 bedroom bungalow but because I live with my daughter I don't qualify due to my age. This is likely why they are refusing you.

Poppy is indeed correct, because of the mass shortage in Bungalows throughout the entire country they use a different rule set for them(Each council is slightly different but mostly follow the same sort of guidelines).

You wouldn’t be entitled to a 2 Bedroom Bungalow under your circumstances.

It has nothing to do with your rights, it’s more the extremely low stock of Bungalows the council have and with them no longer been built(councils are favouring flats due to space/capacity) the stock they do have must be carefully allocated for the best possible result.

If your 100% set on living with the person your caring for but not involved with then you would need to bid on ground floor flats(also in very high demand but far more readily available than bungalows) or look into private renting(would be considerably more expensive).

The council for my area don’t even allow joint applications outside of family/partner for any property and succession can only go to partner(if they have lived there a minimum of 5 years prior to tenants passing) or direct offspring
