Hi everyone I’m new here and new to claiming any type of benefits.
i have severe osteoarthritis in both knees and standing and walking are really painful and difficult.

I received an email on the 28th of December 2023 saying DWP had got my application for PIP. I then had my assessment on the 29th of February. Had a text the same day from DWP to say they’d received my report etc.
Had a text from them on 15th of March to say they have not yet made a decision and a letter saying the same a couple of days later.
So it’s been 15 weeks this week since they received my application.
I live in Yorkshire so don’t know if timings are a geographical thing?
has anyone else got similar health issues that currently receives PIP and what sort of timeline should I expect? Thanks guys x

Hey @kaylalala999 welcome to the community.
Unfortunately that's a bit like asking "how long is a piece of string?" as wait times can vary hugely. They say 15 weeks is the current waiting time average, but again, this could go on a fair while longer. Sorry I cant give you a better answer, but I hope you're successful in your application.0 -
Thank you, yeah I guess I’ll just have to keep waiting. Would be interesting to know if anyone else has the same health issues though and has been successful.0

Timescales for decisions are up to about 12 weeks after the report was returned.0 -
Ok, that’s good to hear I guess. Gives me more of an insight on what to expect.0

Had a text this morning to say I’ve been awarded PIP. Not sure what level though but it’s a good start :-)1

That's good news @kaylalala999, fingers crossed it's the result you're hoping for! Keep us posted0

Hi folks. I only got the basic level and wasn’t awarded mobility.I feel the mobility award is contradicting as I feel it’s your mobility but they say I can walk further than I actually can. Also they say I have no problems getting to places alone but I don’t go out alone I’m scared I will fall which has massively impacted what I do and where I go.
basically they say because it’s not medically documented they won’t score me enough points for even the low level. I’ve got like 6 days left to appeal but I don’t think I’ll get in to see my doctor in time :-(0
