PIP question

Hey all. I applied for PIP last year and was rejected before an assessment.

I applied again last month and I just had a healthcare professional call me regarding my application, the call didn't last very long, maybe 5 minutes and an hour later I had a text saying the DWP have received my written report. Does this mean the person submitted their recommendation without needing a formal assessment?

I just wanted to know if this could be perceived as good news. She said that it's clear I suffer severely with my mental health and that she doesn't think there will be any problems with me claiming so this makes me think that she recommended an award so hopefully the decision maker agrees. She also commented on my application from last year, saying its ridiculous how they only marked me low and only for social anxiety. She was awesome and I'm glad the call was very quick. She also asked if there were any recent changes with my health and I had to explain that I was recently hospitalised a week ago for ODing on meds and that my mh is currently deteriorating but I'm currently awaiting a mental health evaluation. She also asked about if I leave the house and I explained that in 10 years since leaving school I haven't gone out a single time in a social capacity and only leave to go to a doctor or the shops and I have to take my younger sister with me for distractions and the like.

She sounded really nice and I'm hoping it ends up being good news. I'm a little nervous that the call was so short and that the DWP received the report so quickly. Does anyone else have a similar experience?

I'm on LCWRA and I no it has no bearing on the outcome of the PIP decision but I was also awarded that indefinitely without any face to face assessment

For reference the conditions I suffer with pretty severely are Panic Disorder, Major Depression, Social Anxiety and Chronic Migraines. I currently take Venlafaxine, Propranolol, Cyclazine and Sumatriptan

Ah that sounds like it was the lady calling from "the back office" as they call it. I had the same call last week, though mine lasted about 25 minutes and was totally out of the blue!

They'll often call just to clarify things, or ask additional questions as follow ups if you've filled your form in with plenty of information. I cant say if the quick report is good or bad, but I'll be keeping everything crossed for a positive outcome. :) Will you let us know how you get on please?

    Hey there.

Thanks for the reply! Yeah I got a text at 8:30 AM saying a health professional is looking at my application and then an hour later I had the random call.

There are a few things I forgot to mention though, namely about the Migraines. My triggers are heat, light and exertion so I typically can't go out at all during the days. I already mentioned my anxiety also has this affect so I'm assuming not mentioning the migraine thing will be too bad.

I'll definitely keep you updated, thanks again for the reply!

Blimey, nothing like a last minute panic eh? ;)
Not to worry about missing things, we all do I think. It's one of the reasons I don't like random calls, I like to have info in bullet points so I don't forget. If it was mentioned on the forms it'll be fine I'm sure. :)

Sounds like it was the assessor that rang you and not the decision maker itself, as they sent you text after you had spoken to them. If it was a decision maker then you wouldn't have received the text about the report.

However, they shouldn't have said anything to you about any possible award because it's not their job to do that. Only a decision maker can score you points and make an award.

Now the report is returned a decision can take up to about 12 weeks.
