Children and other people that live with you

I am a tad perplexed. I had a message from UC to update my rent increase. So I filled it in, and they asked what date it went up and how much. I did that, and then I got a message from them to say there had been a change, so I looked at my to-do list and it said children or people who live with you, change of circumstances, but no one lives with me, so I can't fill it in, pretending there is a change of circumstances when there is not.  Why would this be on my to-do list when it's not relevant to my living situation? Has anyone had this message? Thank you in advance for any help.

I would leave a message on your journal saying that there is no change.

Hi @wkd, as Leigh14 mentioned, perhaps it's worth leaving a message on your journal to let them know nothing has changed. It could be a mistake or just part of the process, but if you ask what's going on, hopefully someone can clear it up for you :)

I did leave a message. I have recently changed my name with PIP to my married name and my passport etc. I think they must think that I recently got married but I will be married in May for 10 years.

When I applied I told them I was married but I don't live with my husband, he is American and lives in the USA. I would have to sponsor him to live here and that was my intention when I came back in 2018 but seeing the state of this country I no longer wish to pursue that. Being treated like criminals when you're poorly doesn't was with me.

Just like me changing my name I must be up to no good in their eyes. It's that whole attitude that stinks and makes me feel worse with my MH. I've only just picked up my car and couldn't drive it for a week due to anxiety, I finally did with the help of my family and Ive only been back home 2 days after staying with family o and already a stone has been thrown at it. I've had to order a cheap camera to protect it money I don't have.

    Sorry for the rant

So an update it said I have a message and someone said you have to do it when you update your rent increase. I don't remember this happening before, but when I went to my to do list it had vanished. So I had to leave another message to say it's no longer there for me to do and I'm already getting high anxiety over it that I will now have to take my anxiety meds. I don't know why it anything official such as them or has bills,  housing makes me feel very ill. I find it hard to cope with it all, so most times I avoid it..

No need to apologise @wkd, we all need to rant sometimes, especially when you're navigating these benefit systems on top of everything else. It can be really stressful and it does feel very unfair to have to go through so much when you're poorly. Sorry to hear about your car too!

Well done for getting through it so far, though, it does take strength! I hope it's all sorted soon :)

Thanks. I will wait to see if they reply, I can't do a task if it's not there to do, has just disappeared.  Car is wonderful, I haven't used it much but when I do get in it, it feels great.

@wkd, it could have been a glitch, so maybe later or tomorrow, try again. The rent increase is done on the journal every April. If it isn’t done, then you would be left to pay what is owing.
Assuming rent is paid by UC of course. Benefits can be a total pain at times, but we’re lucky to have the system.
Sorry to hear about your car.

Hello @wkd, if you look on your journal does it say that the 'people who live with you' has been completed? It could be that the agent has completed it for you to say no change. It should show in your journal what happened to the 'to do'.
