Second pip assessment
I'm speaking on behalf of a friend that has severe mental health issues (she has been sectioned twice in the past, but last March she scored zero from her first pip phone assessment & after she put in a mr (with help from CAB & they said she should definitely have her pip reinstated) she scored zero yet again, so she put in for appeal, but a few weeks ago she got asked to do another phone assessment & had a text last week saying - "we have not yet made a decision on your pip claim. we will write to you when we have made a decision. you only need to contact us if your circumstances change." & a letter a few days later saying - "We now have the information we need to decide if we can reward you personal independence payment (PIP)There is no need to contact us. " We will write to you when we have made a decision on your pip claim.Yours Sincerely Office Manager." So the question is, has anybody else had an second pip assessment, after the mr & before an appeal??
Kind regards

I can't seem to find any information about an second pip assessment after an 'MR' - (which was put in nearly a year ago & was pending to go to a tribunal) & she has not put in for a fresh pip application claim, so I'm a bit curious about this second pip assessment 🤔0

Any help would be appreciated 🤓0

It was independent assessment services who did her 1st & 2nd pip phone assessments and apparently the assessor from the 2nd pip phone assessment (which was on the 26/03/24) seemed a bit confused about the second pip assessment & asked her who helped fill her mr form in, so she said CAB helped - Would that go against her, if an organisation helped to fill out her MR ??0

This doesn’t happen very often and it’s quite rare. I think the only way you will know what’s happening is to ring PIP to ask them.Someone different helping with the MR will not go against her.0

Hi Everyone I hope you are all good.
My first post on here.
So let me start with a bit of background I applied for last November 23 because I was receiving DLA and waiting for an assessment for years but my condition was getting worse. I spoke to my consultants and GP regarding this before applying. I had a telephone assessment which I found to be inconsistent so I complained after finding out that I could request the assessment report before my decision from this forum. thank you!
My complaint to Capita was upheld I received 0 points for living and 4 points for mobility originally so this has moved to 12 and 8 on the new report. I received £110 in a goodwill gesture. The original assessment was found to be clinically inconsistent and has been amended and sent to the DWP on 9th April 24.
I forwarded the decision letter from Capita and have a meeting booked with Citizens Advice next week was wondering if I need to do send anything else cause at the moment I have not?
My claim has gone to Mandatory Reconsideration on the 9th April also.
The decision may take over 8 weeks to look at, which because my DLA has ended on April leaves me as at a disadvantage.
Thank you for your help and any information you can provide.

@Imrany23 You say you went from zero to 12 and 8 and got money as well. Whats with the MR? You want high for both?0

Hi @TheManFromLondon Thank you for your message, the amended assessment report was sent back to the DWP, the mandatory reconsideration automatically raised by DWP when the amended report was received.
Just was worried cause it is right on the border so I am happy with the amended report just need it agreed with DWP.
So my concern is that DWP might not agree with the amended report and if I should send anything else apart from the copy of the letter I received?
Thank you for your help in advance.

I dont understand where the MR has come from and what purpose it serves, if all you need is waiting to see if DWP will agree to the new report.
To your question, since you are happy with the report, there is nothing you should add at this point, unless you still feel things are said wrong on the report. I would personally wait to see how the new report (which you are happy with) pkays out and if, in the rare occasion the decision maker goes against it, use my extra evidence to strengthen the MR. Biut you seem to suggest one is the works, I am confused about it really...0 -
I am waiting on a call back from Capita to let me know maybe they can add some clarity here on the process regarding the MR. Thank you for your help.

Just a quick update CAB and DWP are saying that I have to wait till for 8 weeks for a decision where 3 have already passed. Thank you for your help.0

Hi
Just an update on my PIP application and the mandatory reconsideration.
I got standard on both, 11 for living and 10 mobility when I called them the DWP DM took a point off the assessment report where I got 12 and 8 I am waiting on the decision letter.
I am disappointed that this has now carried on for 30 over weeks.
Also I was told by DWP that they would take my DLA money since my claim and I received and minus it from my back pay but been told I have applied 13 November however back pay is only paid from 24 April 2024 when my DLA was ended.
Just running out of strength at the moment, should I appeal and can they make the points come down.
Thank you for your help in advance.

When transferring from DLA to PIP there's never any money owed if your PIP award is higher than the DLA was. This has been the law since PIP was introduced in 2013. If it was someone from the call centre that gave you this advice then I'm not surprised because their PIP knowledge is very limited, other than to sit there reading from a screen. They are the last place you should turn to for advice.
If you've already been through the MR (it's not clear whether you have) then you can request the Tribunal. You should either appear in person or have a telephone/video hearing as this will give you the best chance of a decision in your favour.
If they plan on reducing your award they will warn you before doing this by either sending a letter or adjourning the hearing on the day. This will then give you the chance to get some expert advice and decide what you want to do next. If you cancel the hearing then your existing award will continue.

Thank you for your help I have been through the Mandatory Reconsideration and yes I called the call centre in February regarding the DLA. Surely the call centre should know the basics.
I had to force the decision also. I was waiting on the DLA to move me over to PIP.

No, the call centre very often do not know the basics. They are just call centre staff, not DWP.
It doesn’t matter whether you started the claim or whether you were invited to apply, there’s no money owed if the award is higher.
