Autism is monitored by Psychiatrists and use Antipsychotics for lowering symptoms.
She doesn't show anything outside in public and instead will let things build up until eventually she will explode but only in her "safe place" at home. It happened a couple of weeks ago and she had the worst meltdown I've ever seen. She couldn't speak for 24 hours not even to myself or her sister.
I will not argue a fact. A GP is useless to monitor an autistic who has high irritability, OCD and aggressive behaviour. The most common medications for autism is Risperidone (Risperdal) and Aripiprazole (Abilify) and only a Psychiatrist should subscribe and monitor that.

I am not discussing this matter. There is nothing to argue. Please don’t assume you know anything about my daughter because you do not.Yes I do know what Autism is thank you, I’ve lived with my daughter all her life funny enough.I wasn’t even arguing I’m just stating a fact that not all Autistic people are monitored by Psychiatrists.Seriously your attitude is disgusting and just because you have Autism it’s no excuse to be so rude in some of your comments!6 -
TheManFromLondon said:@poppy123456 I posted a detailed reply but got lost.
Please dont make the mistake to believe that because you have an autistic child you know them all. Some autistics (kids or adults) need medication to avoid the meltdown you witnessed from happening daily. The most common medication for autism to counter irritability, OCD and aggressive behaviour is Risperidone (Risperdal) and Aripiprazole (Abilify). These should only be prescribed by a Psychiatrist.
I cant write all again sorry. There is nothing to discuss really. its a spectrum and the OP seems to be very concerned and I feel his situation is not like your daughters.I never implied once that I know all about every Autistic person or child so I don’t know where you got that from. It’s a spectrum so everyone will be different.
What I said was that my daughter doesn’t see any psychiatrist. The reason I said that was because you said Autism is monitored by psychiatrists. You have a really bad habit of attacking people here and it’s really not nice at all. Maybe you should think a little before you comment.5 -
Well said poppy0

I was assessed by over a dozen psychiatrists and not a single one suggested autism!
The main reason for the increase in diagnoses is because girls and women on the spectrum have been mostly overlooked until recently. I'm as old as the NAS itself!
Nobody decides to become autistic and we've been here all along - just not counted yet.

TMFL, I'm sorry to hear this too1 -
@TheManFromLondon how dare you judge me this way!!! I’ve never in my life known anyone be as rude as you.You are picking parts of my comments and twisting them! You missed the part where I said this…poppy123456 said:It’s a spectrum so everyone will be different.1

@TheManFromLondon we've removed some parts of your posts that aren't in keeping with our house rules.
As an aside, statements such as, "Autism is monitored by Psychiatrists. If you choose not to, that is your choice" aren't correct and are misleading. Yes, some autistic people are monitored and supported by psychiatrists but not all and that doesn't mean they are 'mild' or not as impacted. As you've said yourself, autism is a spectrum and no two autistic people are the same.
Going back to the original discussion, the proposals feel like full-on assault on all disabled people. I think it's important to remember that all disabled people could be impacted by the proposals and it's important for us to work together rather than allow divisive rhetoric to undermine us.
