I was assessed by over a dozen psychiatrists and not a single one suggested autism!

The main reason for the increase in diagnoses is because girls and women on the spectrum have been mostly overlooked until recently. I'm as old as the NAS itself!

Nobody decides to become autistic and we've been here all along - just not counted yet.

@TheManFromLondon how dare you judge me this way!!! I’ve never in my life known anyone be as rude as you.

You are picking parts of my comments and twisting them! You missed the part where I said this…

It’s a spectrum so everyone will be different.

Please don’t assume what my daughter is because you know nothing about her!

@TheManFromLondon we've removed some parts of your posts that aren't in keeping with our house rules.

As an aside, statements such as, "Autism is monitored by Psychiatrists. If you choose not to, that is your choice" aren't correct and are misleading. Yes, some autistic people are monitored and supported by psychiatrists but not all and that doesn't mean they are 'mild' or not as impacted. As you've said yourself, autism is a spectrum and no two autistic people are the same.

Going back to the original discussion, the proposals feel like full-on assault on all disabled people. I think it's important to remember that all disabled people could be impacted by the proposals and it's important for us to work together rather than allow divisive rhetoric to undermine us.
