Hi, I am on claiming housing element of the UC and on standards of each component of PIP.
Can I claim housing benefit and council tax support from the Council and cancel the housing element?

Never allow DWP assertions to define you. They never have evidence of your true circumstances.

Unfortunately you can not go back to Legacy Benefits once on UC, neither claim these benefits under a new claim.
I thought I have heard of an exception of that rule in one of the two cases, but I cant find anything about it. However it seems here its just some kind of preference and that would not be allowed.
Keep in mind that housing element and child element are not affected by sanctions (sanctions will not be taken off these) if thats your concern?
Council tax support is always with the council and separate to the UC. -

In some cases housing element is more generous than housing benefit was.I would appreciate it if members wouldn't tag me please. I have all notifcations turned off and wouldn't want a member thinking i'm being rude by not replying. If i see a question that i know the answer to i will try my best to help.
