Text messages from PIP(DWP)

I am officially registered as my husbands appointee

I am concerned that I am not receiving any text message updates with regard to my husbands PIP renewal that I recently completed and returned

when the renewal form first arrived there had been no text advising me prior to its arrival

I know it’s being processed but every time I ring them it takes over an hour to get through to them and they just say it’s being processed and I will receive updates by text but I never do

everyone I have spoken to going through the same process say they receive text updates

They have both mine and my husbands mobile phone numbers so I can’t understand why I don’t receive any

should I be concerned about this and what is the best actions for me to take

thanks Sue

I didn’t get a text until I got one saying they had reviewed my case and I’d be hearing from them within two weeks. I got a letter last week saying my pip had been renewed.

My concern is that they keep saying I will receive text updates but I never do
its not as if the case isn’t being updated it’s just concerning that I have to wait an hour on the phone and them saying this every time

Not everyone receives them. The review can take 8 or more months to be completed. I feel you expect it to a lot faster. All you can do is wait, and calling them will not make things faster. The award will continue until a decision is made, so you should not worry money will end before you hear the decision.

Again, not everyone receives messages, whatever is an award, review, looking into your review etc. Try not to worry over that thing, it really makes no difference at all. When the review is complete you will get a letter.

No I don’t expect the review any quicker that’s not the case at all I’ve already been advised over how long it may take and even that there is quite a probability that his current claim will have to be extended for a further 12 months due to the amount of claims being dealt with causing delays
My issue is that they constantly advise me that all the information will be qualified and further updates will come by text and then I hear nothing
perhaps it’s stupid but it causes me a lot of stress

They say that on the helpline, you will get messages, but as said, some do, others dont get. Dont worry about it, its not like something is wrong. I wish stress was a stupid thing, but we know its not, when its there its there, justifiably or not. Try not to overthink it, if possible, the decision will not come earlier if you worry sick about it. It will be ok.

None of those can be used at court or otherwise, there is a law about it, it is only for your own use.

I dont understand why you push this person to start a war with DWP. Are you young and angry?

Very good to hear this, that other person is clearly reacting very aggressively pushing others to start a war with DWP, and I read his other post he himself became too personal with DWP and takes a war on them, claiming he has evidence of some sort about things, hoping to reinstate his award. That is not the way to do this, if you deserve an award you get it, thats what I read 90% of the time in stories here. You are not part of such a mess, you just wait, it will be over soon and leave it behind you.

Some people are really aggressive here. But if all they claim is true, why hide behind emails and not go public on BBC or SKY for example? Emails and bad words are easy behind a screen. But if its all true, they have the obligation to go public and help us all. But it seems its just fairytales of people who didnt get an award.

I sent renewal form back in October 2023. Jan 1st, received text saying they still had forms and will process as soon as they can. Next text saying the same thing I received on 25 th March. These are standard texts. Perhaps as you’ve recently returned the form, a text will follow about 2 months later, maybe less, maybe more.

Chasing up won’t speed up the process. There are backlogs, simple as that.

I do appreciate your comments but my issue is that I am not receiving any texts at all and haven’t been from the start
so it’s not that my claim is being affected but more that unlike so many others I am not receiving any of these pre generated type texts

Sheepy, this kind of conversation can go on forever, and people have so many and different experiences that eventually you will get stuck in a mind field of worry.

when the review is done, you will be told. Seriously, leave this conversation behind you, do not worry over it, it wont change anything.

@Ramonica Agreed, but I will also say matassa may have something here. I am strongly against conspiracy theories for DWP but, that doesn’t mean it is not a possibility, and I say that because he is so wide open about it.

Maybe he should take it to the news. It seems matassa see that as something more than just his claim. His email is courageous I must admit.

i am not intimidated by the looks, or avatar or lowering words of anyone, (I'm 50 and glad to be called lad anyday), but I dont care who you are, if you have the truth, I’m right behind you.

I was too quick to judge them. It's wrong to assume aa voice is wrong just like that. Yes, if they know, they must share, go public, I would stand with them too.

Hi there @sheepy I have the same issues with texts. It can be very hit or miss as to if I'll receive them or not.  But the DWP often will send written correspondence as well for the important stuff, which is helpful.  As said it can be months between texts, but if it's an ongoing concern I'd try and flag it up with the DWP again.

@matassa1 I would argue that a report to the media gets more attention. I read all sort of stories on BBC and SKY but never about petitions to the parliament. Agreed, it is not a useless process by any means, but news get to do their own investigation, get certain phones hot. At the end of the day, its your call, and I agree you do what you can.

No idea what "protection company" means, I lost you there.

The assessment team person who said that, well, regardless the validity of the claim, its good you have a face and name to offer where you report what it happening.

Bottom line, you are in an unfair situation, I have no reason to not believe you have your diagnosis, and I am the last to make any personal statements about it. I can only trust the process, and it appears you have grounds to dispute it, I already agreed you need to be heard, and also that I was quick to dismiss you.

So all its done from this (admittedly useless, I don't matter to DWP or you) side of mine, I can only wish you good luck with your claim and if you can bring out any truth, I will be grateful as anyone else in our community.

I don't understand why two of you now think it's ok to antagonise someone clearly suffering! Please stop this aggression because that's what it is.

Show some compassion for other people on this forum. We all have the right to be believed! DWP is notorious for disregarding known facts and supporting medical evidence and I wholly believe this man's experiences.

I don't think you've made a friend based on the either thread. Get real and good luck!
