Afternoon wondering if someone could help please, I recently won my trubunial at court and just received a letter saying that the DWP have have applied to the courts for a correction. The letter goes on to say ghat until a corrected decision which is a correction to the start date of the award is required. Could someone please help with regards to this and what sort of time scale im looking at before payment plz

There are no timescales for this unfortunately. All I can tell you is the award will not be put into payment until the error in corrected.0

Hi htudor1
I am not sure if it is the same these days as I have bene out of the industry for around 10 years, but when I worked in Welfare Rights and the DWP called for something to go back to them, it could take between 4-6 weeks for it to be finalised. Back then, a client would usually receive their back money in around 2-3 weeks, but with this having a query raised against it, it will quite possibly be delayed a bit longer. Not too much longer I hope, but I wouldn't put anything past them. Sorry I can't be of any more help.

so does this mean that my whole pip and backpayment will be stopped for good0

I would really hope not. It could just be something simple they need correcting. It may be a date or something as minimal as that. They once recalled a successful case from me because they said the GP signature didn't look quite the same on separate pages. It was daft but this is what they do. You could ring up and ask their reasoning, but getting through initially is a nightmare at the best of times. They do this on occasion. It happened to me a few times but didn't stop the award from being sanctioned. It was more the uncertainty that was the issue for the client, but the DWP don't even give that any creedence whatsoever. It may well be worth contacting your local Welfare Rights team to let them know the situation, or, if you were represented at Tribunal, you could ask the rep to chase it up for you.

I had a few situations when the Tribunal panel or a clerk made a simple mistake on the decision notice, usually the date was wrong (10/01/2024 instead of 11/01/2024).
Simple error, but has not be corrected
The DWP or the appellant would apply to the Tribunal Services to correct it. They would usually correct it immediately, issue a new decision with the accurate date, and the DWP would calculate the arrears you are owed.
I would not worry about stopping your PIP, because the decision was made and if someone would like to change it, they would need to go through the same process you went through (appealing). This is a legal route, so the DWP does not have powers to 'stop' the decision made by the Tribunal. However, they want to pay from the correct date and good they noticed the error.
