Hi,

I received the standard text this morning saying that they are starting my review and my review form should Arrive within 2 weeks. This is 9 months to the day till when my current award ends.

This is my 4th review since I first claimed back 2016. I have always had support filling the form out either through a charity or family member but this time I’m going to do it myself. I know it’s best to add as much information as you can on extra paper. Can I type this and print it? Or does it need to be hand written?

Many thanks ☺️

Heya @Butterfliess eek it's that time already?  Printing out extra pages isn't a problem at all, but I'd suggest signing each page and adding your national insurance number, just to be on the safe side. :)

Thank you for your reply. Typing extra information and makes things a little easier. Seems everyone is waiting a long time on their pip review decisions so I guess I won’t be hearing back anytime soon once the form is sent back .

Unfortunately there could be quite the wait, yes. I've been waiting since Feb 2023 and have only just had the assessment for my review.

Oh wow, that’s a really long time. I hope you get a decision soon and it’s of course the one you deserve 🥰

Thanks @Butterfliess it's been a long time, but at least we all still get PIP paid until the decision is made. I'll keep everything crossed for you. :)

As always thanks for the help everyone! It’s so nice to have somewhere to ask questions. ☺️

I will definitely fill my review out as if a new claim. It’s a little daunting doing it myself for the first time. After that, I shall join the wait and hope for the best.

We're all here for support if you need us.  The coffee lounge is nice a nice place to hang out in if you just need to unwind for a bit. :)

    Another question regarding the review.

as stated above I usually have help filling form in. I want to try do it myself this time. Does it make a difference getting trained support? Or is the outcome usually the same regardless?

I always say the best person to fill out the form is yourself because you are the only one that knows exactly how your conditions affect you.

I've known members get help to fill out the form and when they've come here they said that not much information was included and they were now worried.

I've had help in the past (before my increase in knowledge) filling out forms and was awarded. I now do them myself and always been awarded. The only difference for me was when I got help I needed an assessment, since I've been filling them out myself it's been paper based assessments.

The most important part of filling out the form is you should treat it as a new claim and give a couple of real world examples of exactly what happened the last time you attempted each descriptor that applies to you.

Thanks Poppy that’s really helpful. I feel like I want to do this myself this time. It’s a little daunting as I’m worried I may word things a little wrong.
Last time I had help doing my review form. It was filled out by them while I spoke on the phone, I then collected the form and sent it. She told me that they don’t need you to write a date of when things have changed if they have. She said they don’t really care about that. Is this correct? As I am going to have explain I no longer take a medication. I can give the reasons why. I’m worried if I give the date they will question why I didn’t tell them I stopped it sooner.

Sorry to ask so many questions, I just want to make sure I g

There’s no right or wrong wording to use.

Not all changes of circumstances need to be reported and stopping medication is one of them. If we all did that then the delays would be even longer because they would constantly be sending forms out.

I wrote & submitted forms for my daughter & husband but I see them everyday so see the impact on them but as I'm not writing about myself I get less emotional.  I also recently did a MR for a friend of my husband.  I barely know him but knew about his illness and background to it.  I typed it up in my computer then left him to read it, alter it etc. he got very upset reading it as he saw in black & white his issues.  A month later told his MR was successful.
So if you live with someone who sees you daily & can write a blunt, concise account of your daily life then I'd ask them to help.  My background is local govt, so I'm confident at writing reports so hence I was ok getting relevant facts out of hubby's friend and writing his.  i wouldn't ask a stranger.

Thank you for clearing that up. I will say on my review form that I no longer take this medication and why but won’t worry too much about when I stopped.

Can you still ask for an extension if you need extra time doing the form? I’m hoping it arrives in the next few days so I have longer to fill it out. I got my test Tuesday saying it was in the post.
