I'm hoping to find some friends on the forum who are disabled & also have anxiety & depression & are like me on benefits Inc PIP & are absolutely terrified with the changes the government are trying to implement ATM regarding reducing/stopping cash payments, The money I receive helps me survive & I'm sure I'm not alone in feeling really scared about the future.😥😥😥

Hello @weewoman5 and a warm welcome to the community.
You're definitely not alone in feeling this way. Have you seen our petition calling for the Government to stop demonising disabled people?

Hi Adrian,
I have & I've signed the petition but it's terrifying to think the government thinks disabled people with mental or physical illnesses are just bits of **** on their shoes, we don't deserve to be treated this way, if this act goes through, I won't be able to survive & I'm sure I'm not on my own, ending my life may be my only option.0 -
I am with you that it's a worrying time @weewoman5
I think though that it's just a tactic to turn some working people who may be Labour voters, into Tory voters, by exploiting an underlying hatred of a community who they may feel they are working hard to provide free income for
The reality is ... from a purely numbers point of view (i.e. this is putting aside the fact that say an NHS nurse or police officer obviously contributes a lot more than the few grand in hard cash that they pay in tax) ... that most of those working people are also technically a burden on the state, only the very wealthiest actually contribute more in taxes than the value of what they gain from the state
A true Tory, from an economics view at least (as I am aware that people do base their vote on other reasons than distribution of wealth, like civil rights or law enforcement), would almost by definition only appeal to the richest few in society and basic economics says there aren't enough super rich people in society to form a majority, so in a democracy they need to appeal to more people, so I guess they target the most vulnerable and perhaps "easiest" people and try to turn the rest of the population against them
It's all just a tactical thing really0
