Universal credit child element
After not long switching over my anxiety has made my brain go into hyper over thinking mode, can someone help me with this question.
A child under 16 in boarding school (through scholarship) comes home holidays some weekends etc, home address is their home and still fully financially responsable for the child. Do they still get the child element on UCs?
When on TCs this was checked and as I still get child benefit (child benefit confirmed that) I got the child element for the child on TCs
Switching to UCs I took it to be the same, as in receipt of child benefit and the childs address and everything associated to the child is the home address and financial responsability. A friend just said I shouldnt get the child element for the child on UC 🙈 so now I am panicking and anxiety gone through the roof.
Can an under 16 child who attends boardinf school on a scholarship but with additional to pay, whos parents are in receipt of child benefit, home address is the same, home holidays and a fair few weekends and when ill etc get the child element on UCs?
Thank you

If you are still responsible for your child then yes child element will be paid. If your local Authority are responsible for them then it will stop. See link and scroll to F1071 to F1079. There's also some examples in this which will hopefully help you to understand it.
