Hi, I'm new around here. I've recently been awarded my blue badge. I also have an Attendance Allowance (AA). I find that I am precluded from even applying for the disabled vehicle tax exemption. This is because I'm too old to apply for PIP (one needs to be under the ever-changing state pension age) and cannot apply for ADP as I don't live in Scotland. The DLA is effectively abolished for new applicants who have to apply either for PIP or ADP. But I do have a blue badge and surely this does verify that I am a disabled driver. I do understand that the AA does not have a mobility component but this surely should not make any difference.

Has anyone else fallen over this issue? Is there a solution apart from don't grow old?

Unfortunately they are the rules and there's no solution. Even if you did lived in Scotland you wouldn't be able to apply for ADP either because you are over state pension age and rules for this are the same as PIP. Same rules applied when it was DLA, you could claim that either if you were above state pension age.

Heya @AATony and welcome to the community.

I can see Poppy has already given you an answer here, I just wanted to pop in and say hi and I'm sorry there's no solution to your particular issue.
