After some advice I'm the appointee for my 16 Yr old who's swapping from dla to pip

I just had the a assessment call annoyingly they did it without giving me notice 🙁

And got very flustered as I wasn't expecting it (i suffer from mh problems myself) think iv messed up and forgot to mention thing as she didn't ask any questions regarding one of the questions my daughter struggles with doing alone

I'm just wondering how long till I can call and ask for a copy of the report and do I cal lpip helpline or dwp?

Was it a full assessment or did they just ring to ask a few questions? When they do this they don't send out appointment dates.

PIP is part of DWP and it would be PIP helpline you ring. Please also be aware that the report is not the decision, it's a recommendation only. They mostly go with the report but it has been known for them to go against it.

She said she'd sent her report over to dwp today and a decision maker will pick it up and can take upto 8 weeks for a decision to be made so I'm guessing it was the actual assessment

My reassessment was done like this, they also then went and looked at my original claim, and I didn't get an assessment. I just got the award. They cited my tribunal outcome as a key reason, but it did feel like they were just calling to check a few things rather than a full assessment.

…Though I didn't take the call myself, my phone advocate did.

That doesn't mean it was a full assessment. Did they ask many questions? how long was the phone call for?

It was only 10 mins she asked questions about her being able to prepare/cook for herself,if her hygiene is still the same, how she deals with socialising, how her pica affects her, if she takes meds for her adhd, and about her getting around/planning journeys

My sister said they didn't give her an appointment either just called up when her son turned 16 ☹️

Some of the answers I gave I should have elaborated more on but I was just caught of guard

Like when she asked about her being on adhd meds I said no as she refuses to take them

But she is meant to be on them which I didn't say

Feel like it's going to be a no and I don't know if either of us can deal mentally with do Mr let alone going to tribunal

I could cry I'm so mad at myself for letting her down

That would not have been a full assessment. They just rang to ask some questions to see if they could complete a paper based assessment, which they did.

Paper based is when they had enough of information to write the report without the need for a full assessment.

Got a horrid feeling it will be a no as she no longer takes her meds as she refuses and the counselling we tried to get her for her social anxiety and pica refused to see her after 2 visits because she wouldn't talk to her 😩😡

She eats all her and our clothing and fabrics so her dla helps to cover constantly replaying that if they stop it I don't know how we will cope financially

She starts college in Sept and will need transport to get there which I can't afford without her dla and she doesn't qualify for government help with it

I know it's difficult not to imagine the worst but the majority of paper based assessments are awarded. We've only had a few paper based assessments that have been refused so it's very rare that happens.

If she's successfully awarded she will receive her first payment about 7 weeks after the decision. She will receive one final DLA payment and then PIP starts about 3 weeks later. If PIP award is higher than the DLA award there will not be any money owed.

Daft question but how would I know for sure it's paper based and wasn't just short as she only has problems in 4 maybe 5 of the caring questions and 1 on the mobility

Just had another call where she asked again about how her social anxiety effects her

Have you an actually received a text to say the report has been returned to DWP? Quite often they send a text once it's been returned. (though not always) I thought I read it had already been returned but I see you said you were informed it would be returned the day of the phone call.

If you do request the report on the front of the form if it says PA4 then it would have been a full assessment. If it's a PA3 then it would have been paper based.
