Hi there everyone, I had a diving accident back in 2007 which resorted to a spinal cord injury basically leaving me paralysed from the chest down. I have very limited dexterity but massively enjoy doing woodwork projects. I have to have 24,7 carers to allow me to live day to day.

I live in Nottingham and would like to find somewhere that I could go to to learn woodworking in whatever capacity but being a full-time wheelchair user (manual) i’m really struggling to find anywhere that can accommodate myself. If anybody knows of anywhere, I would massively appreciate your help thank you in advance.

Kind regards

Phil..🤞🏻🙏🏻🙂♿️

Heya @philipmorris and welcome to the community. :)

Woodworking is an excellent choice! Have you spoken to your local council or checked any local Facebook groups and such? They can often point you in the right direction.

I have tried yes previously the only place I found is men in sheds but unfortunately because I’m only 48 years old I’m too young apparently 😂 because you have to be over 65

Oh blimey, that's not very inclusive! But I guess it may depend on how big their sheds are. 😅

I'm not sure how accessible it would be for you, but I've found a place in Newark that offer a 3 3/4 hour course in woodworking that may be something to look into?
