Organic food

Does organic food always taste nicer or have other “selfish” or “noticeable” benefits i.e. aside from the environmental ones?

I love nice food and am massively into quality over quantity and I often choose organic stuff which I think is a lot better. Organic milk is delicious, and organic fruit and vegetables are noticeably nicer to me

But I’ve found some products where I can’t tell a difference, like organic nuts

Organic whisky is becoming a thing recently. It’s promoted for its environmental worthiness over any superior taste, which is very noble but at around £80 for a quality bottle instead of £50 I’d want it to taste nicer! I’ve not tried a bottle but doubt whether the organically-grown grains used which are fermented and distilled anyway would make a difference through to the finished product??

I’m sure I’ll try one one day though

Anyway what do people think about organic stuff? 🤔

    @michael57 I'd be interested to hear it!!!!

    This is where I get the milk from, as a treat not all the time. I am aware of the placebo effect and even despite this I genuinely think this milk tastes much better https://www.fenfarmdairy.co.uk

    I'd be really interested to hear your experiences though, yeah you definitely can be our Poppy1233456 when it comes to farming!!😁

    organic milk farmers still use antibiotics for mastitis but for a longer period hence the longer withdrawal period before that cows milk is fit for human consumption not sure if its still the same but it used to be that if the same cow had to be treated for mastitis more than twice in a lactation and the farmer was honest about it they would lose there organic status hence a rather high turnover of animals leading to higher organic milk price and thats just for starters

    @michael57

    That's interesting

    That website I posted has a page where they tell you about the milking process but it's understandably quite vague and noncommitting with their use of words

    They say they use iodine on the cow's teats but no mention of antibiotics but not saying they don't use them

    The most important question … does organic actually taste nicer do you think??

    the use of iodine mixed with other ingredients is used to dip or spray on the teats after milking to protect the orifice that releases the milk in the first place while it is open never known a farm in my lifetime not to use a dip or spray of some description post milking as for tasting the same i would say if you put organic milk next to so called blue top milk from the supermarket you would tell the difference but if you took a glass of organic milk and a glass of none organic milk from the cow you would not tell the difference at all

    That's interesting @michael57, I would not have thought about it in that way. Thanks for sharing
