Hi, my name is DelW!
Hi,
I am from the UK, I am currently living in Guangzhou, China with my wife and baby boy who is almost 2 years old. He was recently diagnosed with cerebral palsy. It is difficult for my wife to translate but I believe he has a mix of ataxic and dyskinetic CP. He pulls himself along the floor, but has strength in his muscles. He can not sit up unsupported, or walk at all. He has a slight case of strabismus, which he is having a botox injection as treatment this week (40% success rate, so I understand). He was also born with spina bifida occulta.
It is very challenging to come to terms with, I have also had a lot of mental health issues over the last few years, and problems with my parents. At the moment the feelings are up and down, it feels so very sad. I remain positive for Xavier, I know we must be as strong as we can. I am currently trying to find as many sources for types of exercises and routines I can do with him when I get home from work. We will be moving to the UK this July, I am the only earner in the family and we don't have family support from our parents and siblings etc. We will be moving to Lincolnshire as I have found a job there. I am looking for parents who are willing to share their stories and any moral support available, talking helps. My wife often struggles to talk, but she is an amazing parent and wife.
It would be nice if we are able to make some new friends, the move is and will be challenging especially in current times.
Equally, if anyone else is in a similar situation and I am able to help, please contact me.
Del.

Hi there @DelW and welcome to the community.
We have a great CP category here, run by the very lovely @Richard_Scope who is a veritable font of knowledge. I'm hoping the community can be a great place for support and to make some friends. I hope the move to Lincolnshire goes well.0 -
Hello @DelW
A very warm welcome to you!
We have a Children, Parents and Families discussion, you might want to also post there. When you make the move to Lincolnshire I can that you make contact with the Lincolnshire Cerebral Palsy Society they support families across the county and will offer the opportunity to network with other parents closer to you.
