What are people's opinions of Trump's tariffs?

And should we simply retaliate with the same?

The 10% tariff imposed by the US on the UK mirrors the tariff the UK charges on American goods, suggesting a degree of reciprocity in the trade relationship, which makes sense. Given that both sides are already charging the same, it seems more reasonable to focus on negotiations or addressing other trade imbalances.

Retaliatory actions could lead to further instability, while diplomacy and multilateral agreements often yield more stable, mutually beneficial outcomes. The UK is already facing challenges in balancing the books, and escalating trade wars would only exacerbate our economic pressures.
