Hi, my name is Taz1990! Irrigation, anybody else have this done and how is it for you?
Sorry for the length. It started for me end of last year was having trouble breathing, was getting out of breath to easy. After months of test I was found to have cancer of the bowel. It was in its early stages so an operation was the solution. I had the operation 14 feb, was in hospital for a week and was in a little bit of pain but was getting there. Consultant said he would send me home the following day. That afternoon incredible pain hit me seemed to go on forever. Eventually I was send back for surgery explaining that the join did not work. I was in to much pain to ask any questions. I woke up the following morning with a stoma bag. My world fell apart I thought my life was over, loads of tears and people telling me it was not that bad and loads of people had it. That did not help with two operations on the stomach within a week I was in a lot of pain. Took me 2 weeks in intensive care to even look at the nurses changing it. A few weeks later and I was in a right state. They suggested I talk to a mental practitioner to help me cope. I had 6 weeks in hospital so was out by April. Had about 10n weeks home now still not used to it but can change my bag now but as I ride a motorbike finding it difficult coping. Stoma nurse been very supportive and now is looking into irrigation as this might be the better solution for me. Think it could be a better solution for me as I change it in the morning then dont worry for the next 24 hours. Seems a better solution for me anybody else have this done and how is it for you?

Hey there @Taz1990 and welcome to the community. 😁
I'm so sorry to hear you've been through the ringer with all of this, I don't know a great deal about stomas or irrigation, but I'm hoping some of our regulars will be able to share their stories and give some tips soon. I just wanted to pop in and say a quick hello.
