16 staying in full time education and part time work
Hi ,
I claim ESA and child tax credits I haven’t moved over to UC yet , my 16 year old will be going to college in September to do her A levels but she wants to get a part time job too for the weekends . Will this affect my benefits and do I have to report this as a change ? Thanks

You need to report that they are remaking I. Full time education. You don’t need to report them working and it won’t affect your benefits.

Thank you for your reply , poppy I don’t understand the first bit of your reply

Apologies, “remaking” was a typo, for some odd reason my phone autocorrected it to that. It should be “remaining.” It should be you need to report to HMRC and child benefit that they are remaining in full time education.

thank you yes I’m about to let them know . Will that cause a change ? Just wondering if they will get to to apply for UC by telling them she’s staying in full time education

That’s not a change of circumstances that will prompt a move to UC. Though you should expect your migration letter in the near future. Tax credits ends completely at the start of April 2025.
