I am 52 years old. I have anxiety and depression and a condition called Nf1. This condition gives me an array of other conditions and it has no cure. This only will get worse. As the years passed I seem to be able to do less and less tasks. So I am not sure how bad it will eventually gets but would be nice if society had a better understanding on mental health and other conditions like Nf1 even if it is not too in the face I see people are trying to avoid me even though it is not contagious.

    Welcome @Schildpad

I didn't know what Nf1 was so I looked it up - I won't bore you with loads of sympathetic or perhaps patronising comments so will just say I found it quite interesting and appreciate the little bit of education!

I hope you find some help on here even if it's just a chat with likeminded people who perhaps are more likely to understand stuff

Thank you. I appreciate when people take the time to check about the condition. And it is not picnic. Every condition I have it is because of nf1 or the long name neurofibromatosis type 1. there are other types. Some have the condition and you would not know. Because tomours grow inside like with nf2 but It is more serious than Nf1. There is a rarer group wirh a different name. With this condition every case is different.

Some people are ok. Mentally and physically but other no. Some people are positive and can live with it. I am the opposite so I am very negative and this condition ruined my life.

I'm sorry to hear that people seem to be avoiding you @Schildpad, that's always sad to hear. While things are better than many years ago, there is still a long way to go I think. People are more open to speaking about mental health, but it still feels like it's just not taken as seriously as physical conditions. And is also far more misunderstood.
