Blue Badge and Disabled Parking in Sutton, London
Hi everyone,
I recently got confirmation that my Blue Badge was approved and in the post. I am disabled and live on a private development in the London Borough of Sutton. When I bought my property here, it came without parking - this was not a problem at the time as I did not have any issues using public transport etc. I have now, for the last few years, been more or less housebound and cannot leave the area without being chaperoned by my partner or parents. I am over the moon that I to receive my Blue Badge very soon - it will give me a chance to buy a car and enjoy my life, and be more independent.
I have a problem however that due to my property being within a private development with private roads, there appears to be no legal obligation for my management company to provide any adjustments for disability, which in this case would be providing a disabled space for me to park my car. Additionally the arrangement with Sutton appears to suggest that I could not apply for a residents permit on the public roads nearby - this was however before the issuing of my Blue Badge.
Does anyone have any advice on what I can do? Should I see if the management company can provide a solution for me, or should I see if Sutton can?
Please do let me know if you've been in a similar situation.
Thanks a lot!

Hi @KT4YU. Sorry no one was able to answer your question. How have you got on? Were you able to find a parking solution? I hope so.
