That’s an awful lot of questions!
Your SDP and all other disability premiums will end because they no longer exist when claiming UC.

You will be entitled to Transitional Protection so you won’t be worse off when you claim.

As you are claiming Carers allowance for your daughter you will need to make sure you report being her carer when you claim. Your UC will then include the carers element. As a carer you will have no work commitments. Although you maybe expected to attend your local job centre for your first appointment.

As your husband is not a carer then he will be treated as a job seeker. There are a couple of options. He can either report being your carer and your UC will then include another carers element for them. Or he can report his health condition and provide a fit note and go through the Work capability assessment.

However, whether him reporting being your carer will affect your Transitional Protection in the first month I’m unsure. For natural migration when claiming UC reporting being a carer when your legacy benefits include the SDP can affect the TP. I’m unsure if the same applies here but I suspect it will.

If he reports his health condition and is later found to have LCWRA then from the 4th month after he provided his first fit note your UC will include the LCWRA element. However, you may not be any better off by doing this because TP decreases by the same amount when other elements increase or you become entitled to other elements. Whether you’ll be better off will depend on how much your TP is.

Once you submit your claim your IS and housing benefit (if you claim that) will stop after 2 weeks. If you’re claiming Tax credits this stops once you submit the claim.

Your first UC payment will be 1 month and 6 days after submitting the claim. It will be paid on the same date each month, unless it falls on a weekend or bank holiday and then you will receive it on the last working day.

You can request an advance payment but you need to repay that back and your future UC payments will be reduced.

You can claim UC anytime up until the date on the letter.
