New pip application help
Hello could someone please help me, so I applied for pip with the help of my support worker, I then on Monday I recieved a text to say a health problem was looking at my claim etc. anyway i was expecting to obviously receive a asssesment appointment, but then today I got a text from dwp saying they have now received the written report of my assessment and will make a decision within 8 weeks. But the thing is I never did an assessment nor was I asked to do one? What does this mean? Also my support worker told me they contacted her yesterday also

Hi @geraintburnett, welcome to the community. It sounds like you may have had a paper-based assessment. This means they've made their decision based on the evidence and what you wrote on your form when you applied. If this is the case, you don't have to do a phone or in-person assessment on top and you just need to wait for your decision to come through.
If you're worried, you could try ringing the PIP enquiries line to see if they can advise you if that's what's happened. Hopefully they'll be able to clear things up for you 😊 fingers crossed you get the result you're hoping for!

Thank you for your response and thanks for the clarity. Can I ask is this a bad thing that I've not been asked to do an assessment? Everytime I've applied in the past I've had to do an assessment

The majority of the time a paper based assessment is a good thing but I have known for some to be refused after this. Now the report is returned a decision can take up to 12 weeks, rather than the 8 you were advised.
