TC to UC: Had my gateway intervention interview.
Hi,
I had my self employed gateway intervention interview by phone today. I took about 20 mins.
I answered the questions they asked, about self assessment and tax etc. I told them that my accountant deals with all that, after I send them the information. The also asked what my job was, I told them I was a PA for my disabled mum. I also care for her more than 35 hours a week.
Told them that she pays me monthly into my business account, out of her money. They seemed happy with that and said that I didn't need to be in the 'looking for work' category.
Just that I need to report my income and mileage and expenses with the 7 day notice period.
I looked on my journal just now, and it says I'm not gainfully self employed.
I don't really understand this, and what it means to me?

It means you've been unable to demonstrate that your self employed work is viable and maybe expected to look for work. Though that will depend on your claimant commitments.
You will not have the 12 month start up period and the Minimum Income Floor doesn't apply. You will still need to report your earnings and expenses on the last day of each assessment period.
Have you reported your health condition?

I have declared my ASD, visual impairment and my 3 separate intestinal conditions. All of which are incurable.
I also put on the claim form that I care for a disabled person 35hr+.
They did say on the phone that I wasn't expected to look for work.

My accountant does my accounts and all reports show profit, as posted on my self assessment that they do for me.

If the person you care for claims a qualifying disability benefit such as PIP/ADP daily living, DLA mid/high rate care or AA then your UC will include the carers element. As a carer you have no work commitments. Any earnings you receive will reduce your UC by 55%. (unless you have a child named on your claim)
Did you provide a fit note after reporting your health condition? By providing fit notes you will be referred for a work capability assessment. If found to have LCW/LCWRA you will also have the work allowance. This would mean a certain amount of earnings would be ignored before deductions apply.

Yes, I do have my daughter named on the claim. As she was on my WTC + CTC claim.
I also have the high entitlement to both awards on PIP for an ongoing period, as does my mum.
It's all too confusing for my brain.

My daughter is only 11 in August.

Then you will be entitled to the work allowance.

The only reason that I didn't go do the LCWRA, as someone said that I could be worse off, than being self employed and a carer for 35hr+ (from a different forum)

Just realised your other thread on here and I see it was me that advised you may not be any better off by going through the WCA but it would depend on the figures.
