Supported housing association ,council tax
Hello Everyone ,
I have been living in Supported housing after my hospital treatment a few years ago (in recipe of UC and LCWRA). I have changed a couple of properties with the housing association. The last one they moved me to , was a disgusting junk house with doped up criminal tenants (really violent environment). So i moved out and moved to a private rent property.(It was a nightmare finding place and funds in my condition)
Today i went to the supported housing to leave the keys and pick my last bits . I was going through my mail to find out that the Supported housing association have been claiming council tax reduction on my behalf.(good thing is that , the claim was rejected and the letter came to me) Basically the housing association as my supporter , has all my information and they are using it very wisely.
As my research shows so far , here is the quote from rightsnet
"There is no exemption for supported accommodation per se, although landlords are always liable for council tax on a care home or hostel, not the people living there.6 Dec 2021"
I knew the whole time they are using tenants as cash cows , and they have quite a history.
Can anyone advise me how to proceed further ? I don't want to end up with a council tax bill for thousands of £.
I can't believe they are doing this to people like most of us here.
Any help will be much appreciated
Regards to All
Stay well
