PIP updates
hi everyone, I’m new here and just wondering if anyone could share their experiences if similar to mine just for a bit of ease?
I applied for PIP on 15th May (this was when I sent back my form online). I had no texts to confirm anything about receiving my form, but I’m aware it’s not always a quick process. I called the PIP enquiry line in June to see if it has been received and they confirmed it has and it is with the assessment people and I should hear something soon but I’ve still not heard anything about an assessment date/time no text messages, no calls as I’ve seen that some people have just had calls form the assessment people for more information. Has anyone else experienced this and if so what was roughly your wait time before receiving either a text/call/letter with an assessment date?

First of all @Gee2902 welcome to the community 😊 I applied for PIP late last year and I did get texts. When you called up did you check they definitely had the correct number for you? That may be why texts aren't being received?

thank you @Jimm_Scope! Yes, the lady went over my details with me to make sure it was up to date and I confirmed my contact number that was about 2 weeks ago, but I’ve still not had any texts. Would you say it’s worth calling them tomorrow again just to recheck and make sure?

To be fair, you haven’t been waiting that long. It can take anything up to 6 months for a decision when claiming for the first time.
As your file has been sent to the health assessment providers then it’s pointless ringing PIP because they won’t be able to tell you anything more than they already told you.
It’s not unusual to be waiting this short length of time. Most people have assessments which are usually by telephone. Some are face to face or video. If one is needed once an appointment becomes available you will be contacted.
Sometimes they may ring to ask some questions to see if it’s possible to write the report without the need for an assessment but this is rare.
Not everyone receives a text. Hopefully you won’t be waiting too much longer. Try to distract yourself in the meantime.

@poppy123456 Yes I am aware I’ve not been waiting that long, I do know it is a lengthy process. My concern was not receiving any type of texts or assessment appointments which just had me worried as when reading a lot of others stories it seems almost everyone has received texts or an assessment date by 7 weeks after applying. But if not everyone receives texts as you’ve said that helps to put me at ease, I am not expecting it to be a quick process.
