Report Earnings UC
My partners earnings we not taken into account during my recent assessment and now uc is overpaying me. I have mentioned about this in the journal and they have advised my partner to self report his earnings. Should we self report or create a RTI dispute as someone mentioned to me that if hmrc also reports his earnings then it will be reported twice and we will owe them more money. Please help me. What should we do?

hi Yes it was paid within the AP. He did ask his employer if he reported it to hmrc and he said yes. So should I not self report it? They said to do it by the 14th or the payment will be delayed .

but his recent earnings doesn’t show on his tax account

If earnings were reported to HMRC then UC would know about it when they check RTI. If they haven’t taken them into account then it tells me that his employer didn’t report them. I’d advise him to speak to his employer again.

He did speak to his employer and he has reported it again. Should I raise a RTI dispute with UC rather than self reporting earnings?

You can't raise an RTI dispute because UC are saying there's no information there so there's nothing to dispute. Has he checked his online tax account?
What date is the last day of your assessment period?

5th July

someone told me that if I report my earnings and later if Hmrc also reports my earnings it will get reported twice

his online tax account doesn’t show the recent pay he got from work

That suggests to me that his employer didn't report it, even though he was told they did. He will need to make sure he reports his earnings himself, otherwise your next payment could be affected.
Yes, if his employer does go ahead and report it then it could affect your payment because UC will then this he's received more earnings than he actually has because he would have reported it as well as his employer. This could reduce your UC to zero for that month. If this happens then you will need to speak to your employer rather than raise an RTI dispute.

So what should I do in my situation? Should I wait as his employer has reported his earnings again or should we self report? I’m very confused in this situation.

If you've been asked to report his earnings then that's what he needs to do. If your statement isn't recalculated to take into consideration his earnings then you may want to keep hold of the money that was over paid so you can pay it back.

I haven’t been paid yet. The statement shows that I will be over paid. His employer has also reported his earnings again. I’m just afraid that if he also reports his earnings then uc will take both into consideration and will not pay us anything..

Can I leave a message in the journal regarding this matter and ask them for a solution?

You said you were asked to report his earnings, is that correct? I know you haven’t received payment of UC yet because your AP didn’t end until 5th.

Yes I was told to report his earnings.

So should I just tell them to check HMRC for his earnings? Because his employer has reported it and now it does show on the tax account.

When I asked you earlier you said it wasn’t showing on his Tax account. If it’s showing now then put a message on his journal under the payment section and tell them what’s happened. Ask them to check RTI.

Thank you to you both for helping me with this issue x
I have informed uc to check with HMRC for his earnings report.
