Missed adding a savings account to my claim

edited July 2024 in Universal Credit (UC)

Hello

When I migrated from Tax Credits in May 2024, I missed declaring an e-ISA account containing £23.

I have a little over £7000 in my bank and have had money deducted from my UC payments to reflect this.

I have tried to inform Universal Credit about this account on two occasions and both times they advised me to use the “Money, savings and investments” link, but it’s not obvious to me how to add the e-ISA from there.

I’d like to close this account and transfer the £23 to my other savings but I’m unsure whether I’d receive a penalty if I don’t inform UC of the account details beforehand. I’m claiming PIP and expecting the UC50 form any day now and want to avoid causing problems with my claim.

Is there any way for me to give account details for the e-ISA online? If it's not possible, would it be OK to close this account and update UC about the £23 by including it with my total savings?

Thanks in advance.

Move the money into another account and then declare it, it's not an issue. The worst that can happen is that your UC will reduce by another £4.35/month.
