Hi, my name is BJ22MD!
Hi guys, just recently been diagnosed with degenerative spinal stenosis after a recent mri and exam and the hospital consultant gave me an urgent referral for surgery, never really heard of it before but it's really affecting my mobility and lifestyle.
Going to see neurosurgeon next week to discuss options (if I have anyπ) just came across this forum online and thought it might be good to chat to peeps in similar situations and maybe get a little advice on what to expect.
Hope to join in on some of your chats soon, all the best to you all π

Hi teddybear123, I've had a bad back for years, in fact I took early retirement years ago because of it but only just had the diagnosis, that itself was not the shock but finding out what it is and the lack of proper alternative solutions to an age old problem definitely is.
I'm not looking forward to having scaffolding put into my back to replace removal of part of my spine and as far as I'm aware this leads to/accelarates adjacent joint failure both above and below the affected joints and more surgery but I'll know more once I have the consultation next week, I'll update the thread for anyone who may be interested or have a similar problem.
Thanks for getting in touch π

Hi @BJ22MD. I'm sorry to hear that it's affecting your mobility and lifestyle. I hope that the neurosurgeon can give you some options that will improve your quality of life. Definitely keep in touch to let us know how you get on.
There are lots of discussions going on that might interest you. There's the
which has loads of games to join in with. I'm currently trying to create a community playlist so if you're into music please add a song!1 -
Hi Rachel, thanks for that, yes I'm hoping that there will be some options that will do that and I will update.
Great idea with the playlist, I love music, especially from the 70's and 80's, love all the Eagles, CCR (have you ever seen the rain), Travelling Wilburys (end of the line with the tribute to Roy Orbison) to name a few, some really great sounds out there π΅.
All the best for now and thanks again π
