Tax refund for 23/24 not working now Universal Credit
hi, apologies for a similar post but I looked and couldn’t find a similar situation. I was working up until November 23. Then stopped due to ill health. I am now in LCWRA ( about to move into carer element as my daughter is disabled as if this year sadly). Tax refund is around £3000. Will that be classed as income / do I need to tell UC and would it then make dedications?

Unfortunately it will be treated as earned income in the assessment period in which you receive it. Yes, you need to report it to UC just incase they don't know you received it. The usual deductions for earned income above the work allowance will apply, which is 55%.
I also note that you mentioned having LCWRA for yourself and about to claim carers element. If you're claiming as a single person then you will not be able to receive both elements at the same time, this is because both can't be paid at the same time to the same person. In this case you will receive the higher element, which is LCWRA.
If you're claiming with a partner and they care for your daughter for at least 35 hours per week they can claim carers element, unless they are claiming it for caring for someone else.

phew,I was lucky I had a £5000 tax rebate two months before I reclaimed UC I had no idea it would be classed as income…a narrow escape.
