LCWRA confusion please help
Hi,
I've been off work and on universal credit for a few years now due to my epilepsy and I thought I was receiving lcwra as I have a letter in my journal from 2021 saying that was what they assessed me as. But I have actually never received a payment, I enquired about this and they said it was a mistake and it shouldn't be on there but I do feel I'm this category. They have sent me a form to fill in but I'm just wondering if anyone knows what rights I have in this matter? Sorry its very confusing and really hard to find any information out about it nobody has ever heard of it happening before.

Hey @Lilliann1, first of all welcome to the community! I can understand your confusion, because I'm also quite confused after reading that.
So let me just clarify. You had a Work Capability Assessment in 2021, and got a letter saying you were awarded LCWRA, but never received anything. Now they are saying it's a mistake? I don't think I've ever heard of that happening either.
I would recommend getting this looked into, how can it have taken 3 years to discover this mistake? You could try contacting your local Citizen's Advice to see if there are any benefits advisors, or advocates available. I would also contact your MP, they may need to get settled into the role first, but they can help with getting answers.

Hi Jimm,
Thanks for getting back to me I really appreciate it. Yes it's really strange I'm on a really strong dose of medication so have a lot of confusion etc and just thought it was included in the money I received in my universal credit but have recently realised it isn't and I've never had any payments. They said I should just be on limited capability for work and they sent the wrong letter!
I've just filled in the UC50 and sent it off so do you think its best to wait to see what they say and take it further depending on the outcome?
I definitely fit the criteria for it but I'm just worried they'll try to get out of having to back pay me.
Thanks again for your help.

Hi @Lilliann1. This isn't something that I've come across before. I think your best bet would be to speak to a local benefits advisor who are experts in this area.
You can find a local one to you on this website
or you could contact the Citizens Advice Bureau .Let us know how you get on.
