I work 16 hours per week in retail. I live alone IM 61 my health isn't the best, I have to claim u/c of which is only to help with my rent, my employer can't give me any more hours at the moment, I have a face to face interview one week and a phone call the next week with UC. My son has paid for me to go away to Turkey with his family for 7 days. UC have told me I still have to have a phone call from them while I'm away and I'm still expected to look for work or they will fine me has anyone else had this experience from UC.

You are allowed to go abroad for up to 1 month when claiming UC. However, if you have commitments with UC then you will still be expected to complete those even when on holiday.
You won’t be fined but could be sanctioned if you don’t do what is asked of you.
When did your UC claim start? And when are you going on holiday?

My claim started 6 years ago. The government changed the rules and I have to do 20 hours at work, my employer can't give me the 4 hours extra.
I'm going in holiday for 7 days.
I have never been sanctioned before so I'm unsure what they will do. Thank you for your answer.
