Hi, my name is Mark9801!
Hello
I'm joining the forum as an extremely concerned Dad for my disabled daughter. She's currently in her second year at a well known Russel Group University. Sadly she has been subject to countless episodes of direct discrimination by her main lecturer because of her disability. Many such incidents are insults, emotionally upsetting her, bullying and intimidation. In addition they have refused to respect and implement all of the "reasonable adjustments" as recommended by the two of my daughters consultants and the Occupational Health Department as a means to "break" my daughter and make her decide to leave the course /university. What makes it even more ironic is that my daughter has not failed academically or caused problems elsewhere that could or may justify why she has been treated this way.
Whilst this has been progressing, she made numerous "cries for help" to the University's student support hubb through ringing, emailing them and even attending herself in tears pleading for help. Unfortunately she was repeatedly told someone would be in touch, but they never did.
The University does not have a good record of student support and the high number of student suicides there has been recognised by other agencies. Unfortunately due to how my daughter has been discriminated dated against with such savage treatment, as her parents we are gravely concerned for the impact this will have on her mental health and fear she could take her own life. Furthermore the impact this will have on her wonderful ambition to graduate especially after what she has had to endure and obtaining a place there.
The failures and disability discrimination she has endured is so well evidenced it is unreal how those responsible have still had the nerve to carry out such dispicable acts in today's day and age.
My daughter is desperately seeking a Pro Bono solicitor for legal advice and representation to deal with getting this matter properly dealt with. Alone, this is to big for her to represent herself, against such a big organisation.
If anyone can please help or offer any advice or sign posting, I would be so so grateful.
Thank you.

HI @Mark9801 and welcome to the community.
I'm so sorry to hear about your daughters struggles, that's very unfair of the university to not allow her reasonable adjustments. Can I ask if she's in regular contact with her GP, as I think this could be a priority if her mental health is suffering.0 -
She is with her GP thank you.

Morning @Mark9801.
I'm glad your daughter is under the care of her GP. Are you receiving any mental health support? This all sounds incredibly stressful so you should take care of your own health too.
We're unable to provide any legal advice nor offer information on solicitors. You may have already done a lot of research but this link sets out your daughter's rights
