Disabled parent (myself), with a working partner, But no access to free-childcare/cannot afford

Hello I Recently found out I could be having a child, I was looking into the finances more (looked into it before and everything seemed fine)However when looking at the childcare options we realised that we are only eligible for free childcare if both of us are working and earning a certain amount of money. I'm in receipt of pip and the LCWRA part of uc as a joint claim with my partner. I have no idea how I can look after my child for 37 hours a week while my partner is at work due to my disabilities. Does anyone know how I can access any form of childcare at all? The only option we seem to have is having to split up/move out into separate homes, just so we can have access to childcare.

Thank you for your time.

James

You can still claim for help with childcare because you’re claiming UC as you’ve been found to have LCWRA.

If your partner does not work but cannot look after your children

You can still claim childcare costs if your partner:

    • has a health condition or disability which means they have limited capability for work (LCW) or limited capability for work related activity (LCWRA)
    • cares for a severely disabled person (and is eligible for Carer’s Allowance)
    • has to be away from home temporarily, for example in hospital
