Won PIP tribunal in May , DWP are requesting a statement of reasons
What does this mean for me ? Will I not get my PIP now ? Very confused about the whole procedure and unsure why they are requesting to appeal it. Thanks In advance.

They are not appealing the decision, they have requested the Statement of Reasons. Once they receive that they must find the error in law before they can appeal it. They can't just appeal the decision because they disagree.
Sometimes they request it but they very rarely appeal it.
The award will not be put into payment and you won't receive any money owed until they receive the SOR and decide what they are going to do.

thanks for the reply - why would they even be requesting this though when they don’t in other cases? I’m just confused as the DWP representative at my hearing was in favour of me being awarded pip too so it doesn’t make too much sense? Thanks again!

They have as much chance as we do to appeal the decision.
I’m afraid I couldn’t tell you when they’ve requested the SOR.

what would an error in law be exactly ? So they can’t appeal if they just don’t like the outcome of the tribunal ?

There’s some information here https://commonslibrary.parliament.uk/appealing-benefits-decisions-beyond-the-first-tier-tribunal/
No they can’t just appeal because they didn’t agree with that decision. It’s the same for us.
