Worse off under UC
Hi everyone I'm really in need of some advice and information regarding my spare bedroom payment being refused. On my universal credit.
Up until claiming U/C 12months ago , I never encountered any issues with my benefit I was on
full housing benefit,
I received a full counsel tax reduction for my spare bedroom.. They gave me council tax and allowed for my spare bedroom. As I require over night care most nights . I transitioned to U/C from ESA.
I'm disabled I receive high rate pip and mobility component !!!!!!
" Not only am worse of, and have to find money to pay for the short fall in my counsel tax because they will only pay for" 1" bedroom !!! making me pay Ithe "£50" a month for my "2nd " 😳 I don't u derstand!! my circumstances haven't changed. I'm now over £1200 in debt, I just can't find this, I can't afford to pay this!! I don't understand if I get PiP enhanced rate why they are saying I not entitled to it???

Council Tax reduction has nothing to do with a spare bedroom. Your council tax reduction isn't part of UC and is still claimed from your local Authority as it was when you claimed ESA.
When claiming UC council tax reduction entitlement is usually based on what your UC entitlement it. However, all local Authorities have their own rules so unfortunately I won't be able to advise with that.
Have you actually applied for a bedroom for a carer with UC? I realise you were claiming this when you claimed housing benefit but it's not automatically transferred over to UC and you need to reapply.
Are you living in social/council housing or privately renting?
