I am 72 and live near Plymouth in South Devon with my wife, Julia. I am partially sighted, partially deaf getting deafer and have Crohn's disease. In 2011 I received a liver transplant after unsuccessful treatment for Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis, so I will be immunosuppressed for the rest of my life. I was emotionally abused as a child and suffer with abandonment issues for which I continue to receive counselling/therapy. I also have osteoarthritis and a DVT along with other, mostly age related ailments.

I also have a lifetime of experience of experience in the visual arts, small business and charity administration. I have three adult sons and an honours degree in photography, film and television production. I built a sailing dinghy and have renovated three houses. I swim three times a week, meditate and do yoga almost every day.

Because of my disabilities I have become quite isolated and would very much like to become involved working and helping voluntarily with others in some meaningful and hopefully creative activity or venture.

Hi @Immanuel, welcome to our community! 😊 Your life sounds fascinating to me. I'd love to hear more about the sailing dinghy, how difficult is it to build that kind of thing? I also bet you could have a good chat with my sister about photography, she got a degree in it from Falmouth university. She often talks about how much she misses Cornwall.

I also have Crohn's disease and I know the issues that can cause with getting out and about, never mind your other conditions. Hopefully the community here can be somewhere you can share your creative side, we do have some spaces for sharing art and other creative works such as our Kaleidoscope thread 😊
