PIP underpayment after review but not received payment

PIP award letter received says: 'We may owe you money. We will write to tell you about this'. It is 3 weeks now but I still haven't received a letter or payment.

I don't owe DWP any money and haven't been in hospital. I don't understand why there is a delay. I tried calling PIP but was cut off after waiting a long while and gave up trying on second day after being on hold for an hour.

A relative eventually got through to pip enquiry line in early August. The agent said the payment has been passed to debt. They said this is standard procedure.

However, I don't have any dwp debt. I don't understand why there is such a long delay in processing the payment, as I definitely don't owe the dwp any money.

It will be 7 weeks next week, so I will write to pip to enquire about the back payment.

Thank you so much for responding TK1,

Iam so sorry you havnt received your back payment still.

I have literally just come off of the telephone from PIP.

    Hopefully my situation is resolved.

Fingers crossed,I may be able to assist you with yours.

I was advised exactly the same as yourself (re -DWP Debt Management)

I was also a little concerned,as I had no debt that I was aware of.

PIP gave me there telephone number,

    08009160647

And I spoke with a lovely gentleman, who checked for me & explained,I had no debt with the DWP.

I contacted PIP back & advised them what debt management had told me.

They explained that they allow debt management department 10 days to respond, before paying the underpayments/backpay.

I really hope this information may help you,as 7 weeks would definitely be exceeding the 10 day turn around.

I wish you the best of luck 🤞🏻

    Kindest regards

Thanks for the advice. I'll give debt management a call on Tuesday to find out what's happening with the underpayment. 7 weeks is far too long to wait. Hopefully it'll be resolved quickly. Thanks again.
